What About the Bible?

It just amazes me as to how so many of God’s people do not know the Bible. Unfortunately, most people’s Bible is their particular affiliation’s slant on some of the things in the Bible, rather than a solid knowledge of what is really in the Bible, and how the scriptures confirm the scriptures. Any supposed belief that cannot be consistently confirmed by scriptural evidence is just plain false. Do you know how the new testament scriptures were written? By the overshadowing of the holy Ghost revealing old testament scripture to the apostles who wrote the NT scriptures. That is why most of the NT scriptures are either quotes from the OT or references to the same. The scriptures must be confirmed by the scriptures, not by what someone thinks a particular scripture might mean. But when someone who is upholding something untrue is shown clearly by the scriptures that their ‘belief’ is in error, they usually want to run to the Hebrew or the Greek language to ‘clarify’ the mystery. Problem is, if someone isn’t honestly seeking the truth, they will pervert what the Hebrew and Greek says the same as they do to the English. Most Pentecostal affiliations have made some person their Bible, and let what that person says be what they believe to be the truth. And it shows up clearly that this is the case by their evident lack of knowledge of what is actually in the Bible. Jesus said that the holy Ghost would guide us into all truth, but most people who have received the Spirit have been content to let some person be their holy Ghost, rather than seeking God diligently in prayer and study for true divine understanding (Jn. 14:26; Jn. 16:13; Heb. 11:3). "Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding" (Prov. 2:3-6).

So in light of this, what do we do with the following passage? “These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him" (I Jn. 2:26,27). Sounds like what Jesus said, doesn’t it? So does this mean there aren’t supposed to be teachers in the body of Christ? Of course not, but the only true teachers that have been anointed and ordained by God, are only teaching God’s people the same thing that the holy Ghost is trying to teach them. The apostle Paul said it this way: "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach" (Rom. 10:8). How is the word nigh unto believers, in their mouths and hearts? Because the Spirit is trying to teach everyone who has it, what truly is the word of God. Isaiah prophesied of this spiritual reality, saying, "And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD" (Isa. 54:13). So did Jeremiah: "And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD" (Jer. 31:34). I will assure you that anything and everything that the Spirit reveals will be upheld by consistent evidence of the scriptures. So it should be no surprise that God’s people are not diligently educated in the Bible, because the confusion of modern Christianity is not founded in the Bible, but rather by the erroneous traditions and doctrines of men; as was the case when Jesus was here (Mat. 15:9). In conclusion friend, the only way you will ever know who is really preaching the true word of God, is if you make it your motivation and determination to seek the Lord diligently to know what his Spirit has to say to you. Otherwise you will have no choice but to replace the Bible and the holy Ghost with what someone else erroneously thinks about God’s word, and that is known as idolatry. "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the [congregations]” (Rev. 2:7). Amen.
