Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man

"Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually. Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah. Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever. I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints" (Psm 52). There we have the 52nd Psalm, and I can tell you with absolute assurance that not one single thing has changed since it was written. Not man, not Satan, and not God. Satan still moves the weak minded and the wicked to boast great things against the righteous, and against their God. Satan still impresses a hatred of God's righteousness onto the spirits of the wicked who happen to be in proximity to the true children of God who are bearing witness to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ in word, in deed, and in spirit. The wicked also still slander the righteous and falsely accuse them. And the beat goes on.

Daniel's wicked, envious fellow presidents did it to Daniel and he ended up in the lion's den for the sake of praying to God (Dan. 6:12,13). Well, Daniel was at peace with the lion's all night long, but in the morning his accusers were thrown into the den of lions with their families, and they were all torn to pieces before they even came to the bottom of the pit (Dan. 6:19-24). The wicked Haman in the book of Esther abhorred the righteous presence of Mordecai, and built a gallows to hang him on, being purposed in his heart to give a false, slanderous report to the king about Mordecai (Est. 3:5,6; Est. 5:13,14; Est. 6:5-10; Est. 7:6-10). As it was with Daniel's accusers, Haman ended up hanging on the gallows that he built for Mordecai. As long as the righteous hold fast to God in these circumstances there is simply no other possibility for these things to work out any other way. God is still "the Judge of all the earth," and it is "his judgments that are IN all the earth" (Gen. 18:25; Psm. 105:7). He will have the last word in all things, and his word is just, and true, and unalterable. Those who abide in his word will be on the right side of his just, and true, and unalterable judgments. Those who wickedly and unjustly oppose them will still be devoured by the lions and hanged on their own gallows that they have built for the righteous. It just can't be any other way. Neither would I have it any other way. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Rom. 8:28). Amen.
