Is It Real?

The question I have today is, do you truly relate to and identify with the things and people that you read about in the Bible? Jesus told us to love our enemies, and to pray for those who deal unjustly with us. Are you doing that, and do you really mean it if you are? King David danced under the power of God’s Spirit, for joy of being a partaker of God’s love and favor. What about you? Do you do that? The apostle Paul said to “rejoice evermore,” and also to “rejoice with them that rejoice,” and to “weep with them that weep” (I Thess. 5:16; Rom. 12:15). Does that sound familiar? When you hear the old Gospel hymns, do you feel where they came from, and really identify with them in reality and truth? Have you at any time been truly persecuted for his righteousness and truth’s sake? The apostles went out from a fresh beating for Jesus’ sake, “rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer for his name’s sake” (Acts 5:41). Jesus said that we should “leap for joy” when we are misaligned for his sake (Lk. 6:22,23). I can tell you that he wasn’t using phraseology to emphasize his point. The holy Ghost will truly move us to leap for joy under such circumstances. We are told in the Psalms to “serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling” (Psm. 2:11). Do I hear any amens on that? The prophets knew what it meant to be isolated for the word of God’s sake, and since they did there must be something like that going on in the earth today somewhere. Any echoes on that one? And the entire Gospel is founded on miracles: Miracle healing, miracle deliverance, miracle love, miracle comfort, miracle peace, miracle wisdom, miracle help; you name it, if it’s Gospel it’s miracle. Know what I mean? Well, this could go on indefinitely, but since I’m short on time, let me just say that I am so happy today that it’s all real! Aren’t you? And even if you aren’t, there’s still good news: It can and will get real as soon as you are ready for it to get real. All you need is to get seriously real yourself. God is real with those who are real with him, and he has never changed. Neither have those who love his reality. God Bless.
