No Middle Road

I’m not sure how many people actually realize this, but the proverbial ‘fence’ that so many are said to be riding, has never existed. There simply is no 'middle road’ in a life being lived for Jesus Christ. That condition is known in the scriptures as being 'lukewarm,’ and it does not draw a 'middle of the road’ response from God: “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth” (Rev. 3:15,16). People have invented this 'riding the fence’ mentality to pacify themselves about the fact that they just aren’t living for Jesus with all their heart. If we’re riding the fence then it’s certain that we’re on the wrong side of the fence, if we’re going to say there is a fence. We are moving into times in this world that is going to manifest exactly where we’re at and where we’ve been at. We will soon be put in positions that will force us to go all the way one way or the other. Depending on what side we’re leaning into, we will be pushed all the way to that side, whether for good or for evil. Then the saying will be fulfilled that says, “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still” (Rev. 22:11). We will soon see the wicked wax far more wickedly, and the righteous will magnify Jesus Christ in a way none of us have ever seen. Speaking of the end time, the angel of the Lord told Daniel, “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever… Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand” (Dan. 12:3,10).

We’re going to see upheaval of every kind pretty much everywhere, and the wicked will be given to panic and looking to the false promises of men, which will only increase wickedness. The righteous on the other hand will diligently seek God for his strength, and guidance, and protection. Jesus said it like this: “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken… And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Lk. 21:25,26,28). The truth is we cannot be prepared for such times as these if we are 'riding the fence’ or walking some 'middle of the road’ line with God. That is a deception my friend, and that is a sure recipe for disaster. The things that will soon be coming upon this world will come in a day just like today, and now is the only time we have to prepare ourselves. If we’re waiting for a certain time to get things righted, the time will come when we will have waited too long. Just after Jesus spoke the words previously quoted, he said this: “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man” (Lk. 21:34-36).
