Healing and Scripture

Today I would like to share three definitive things that I have learned from the Lord about healing, and finish with how these three elements are absolute and irrefutable. Oh yeah, and also how that these things are REALLY GOOD NEWS! They each have to do with Jesus [surprise surprise], and with the record that we have of his ministry in the Bible. First of all we have the clear evidence in the scriptures that NOBODY who came to Jesus for healing or deliverance, or was brought to him by someone else for the same, left without being healed and/or delivered from demonic bondage. Search the scriptures for yourself and you will see that confirmed. Next we have the record that NOT ONE TIME did Jesus ever ask anyone what they had done to get in the mess they were in, nor did he make issue of anything like that at any time with anyone. It just isn't there. And finally the scriptures plainly show that Jesus NEVER ONCE told anyone to go their way and wait on their healing. The undeniable fact of the scriptural record is that EVERYONE who came to Jesus for healing or deliverance from demonic oppression, was healed right there and then in the presence of Jesus. There is the case where he instructed ten lepers to go show themselves to the priests, and they were healed as they went [not at a later time] (Lk. 17:12-14). That is absolutely what the Bible shows us. But the BEST NEWS is what the Bible also plainly tells us about Jesus: "Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Heb. 13:8). Did you get that? JESUS NEVER CHANGES, and neither does the will of God. That means that what Jesus demonstrated when he was here is what he wants to do and will do NOW! If it was not ALWAYS God's will to heal someone, and to heal them NOW, there would surely be some record of that in the ministry of Jesus, who manifested the will of God more perfectly than anyone in the history of the world.

Understanding and believing what Jesus demonstrated toward men when he was here is the key to everything that we have need of from God. And understanding these three elements of God's will about healing takes away all of the hiding places where doubt loves to reside. As Jesus often stated, it is our faith in him that procures our healing; and by the same token it is our doubt that keeps us from being healed. It really is that simple, and we must take away all of the loop holes in our faith that provide hiding places for doubt. One of the biggies is, "Not everyone get's healed." Ever heard that, or maybe said that? I've done both personally, and you probably have as well. But that is against what we see in the Bible, in regard to what JESUS THOUGHT about the matter, as we have seen. So eliminate that from our thinking, and doubt has that much less space to creep in and corrupt our faith. Then there's the mindset that someone can't be healed because of HOW they got the condition they have, or what they did to get in that shape. But once again, Jesus never made issue of that one time, and you can rest assured that a whole lot of folks who needed healing from him had brought all kinds of ills upon themselves by things they had done wrong. He did tell one man, "Sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee;" but that was AFTER he had already healed him (Jn. 5:14). If we can eliminate that loop hole then we have pushed doubt that much further out of the picture, and faith has a whole lot more space to operate. The thinking also widely exists that "there's a time for our healing, and it may not be now." The scripture once again reproves that mentality by the fact that Jesus NEVER told anyone they had to wait until a certain time to be healed.

If we can eliminate all of these mindsets which are contrary to what Jesus demonstrated when he was here, then we have given faith a pure and direct path to procure the healing and deliverance that we need from Jesus. He clearly wants us to be healed, and not to be under any demonic oppression. We simply need to agree with his established will and receive what he desires for us, namely OUR WELL BEING! Some also believe that we can't be healed because it is God's will for us to have some adverse condition so that we can "learn a lesson," or so that we can "learn to be humble." I believe we should rather heed the words of the apostles who were with Jesus, like Peter: "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing ALL that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him" (Acts 10:38). And John: "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth" (III Jn. 1:2). And so it is evident that everyone Jesus healed and delivered were oppressed, not by God, but by the devil. It is also evident that it is God's will for us to be provided for and to be in health, the same as it is his will for us to be pure in heart and free from sin. The beloved apostle certainly thought so anyway. What it comes down to is that we need to "Trust in the Lord with all of [our] heart, and lean not to [our] own understanding" (Prov. 3:5). That is what Jesus taught, and that is what he demonstrated to be the truth. The results speak for themselves, and they will speak for themselves today if we will line up our thinking with the way Jesus thinks. Amen.
