Self pity is wicked and it is one of the most common conditions of mankind today. The holy Ghost revealed to me many years ago in a two-tier revelation, that the whole body of Christ is under self pity, and that the whole world is under self pity. I'm talking about pouting, plain and simple. I want to explain what the spirit of pouting is all about, and then something else. Self pity is the result of wanting to have one's own way, and God not allowing it to be. When things don't go like we would like, or when people don't deal with us like they should; we have two choices: We can either start doing good, or continue to do good, and trust God; or we can feel sorry for ourselves for not "getting a good break." In the latter case there is no need to do anything right, because we have a convenient excuse to do wrong; meaning the whole "what's the use?" attitude. Someone who is prone to pouting can either repent of it and seek God's help and strength with honesty and humility, or they are always going to be a pouter. Why? Because anyone who is looking for an excuse to pout is certainly going to find plenty of them, always. Things just don't go the way we would like to see them go a lot of the time, in many walks of life; and people will often not deal rightly with you. But those who truly love God simply DO NOT waste time or spirit with self pity, because they are assured of the following powerful truth: "And we know that ALL things work together for GOOD to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Rom. 8:28). That's really the end of all strife on the topic, unless of course you just don't believe the truth. The ONLY way that ALL things that happen can work for our good is if God truly is "working all things after the counsel of his own will," even as the Bible states (Eph. 1:11). If God is ONLY GOOD, and I know that he is, then he really and truly is purposing all things for the good of EVERYONE who will simply trust him. There is nothing to pout about. It comes down to there being a vast lack of knowledge of God, which the scripture says is the foundation for destruction (Hos. 4:1,6). If Joseph had pouted over the way his brothers dealt unjustly with him, then both himself and all of them, along with the rest of the world, would have simply starved to death. Either that or God would have found someone who WOULD NOT wallow in self pity, and wrought the great deliverance through them. But Joseph, who was in fact dealt with unjustly repeatedly even after being sold into Egypt by his brothers; told his brothers like it was when all was said and done: "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive" (Gen. 50:20). Joseph surely believed in Romans 8:28 a long, long time before it was written. Reason being that pure faith and trust in God's power and love has always been written in the hearts of those who have truly believed and loved him.

Yes friend, pouting truly is wicked, and the only person that will cater to a pouter is a wicked person. The wicked king Ahab of ancient Israel tried to buy a righteous man's vineyard because it was near Ahab's palace. When Naboth refused to sell his rightful inheritance in the land, Ahab went home and pouted up a storm: "And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread" (I Kin. 21:4). Ahab's wife Jezebel, one of the most wicked people recorded in the Bible, came to Ahab and fueled his pouting by catering to it, promising him that she would work things out for him to get what he wanted (I Kin. 21:5-7). So Jezebel set up a wicked council of men who accused Naboth of false charges, and stoned him to death (I Kin. 21:8-13). So Ahab got the vineyard, but God was watching and sent foth his OWN judgment for Ahab by his servant Elijah: "And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the Lord, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine... Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity" (I Kin. 21:19,21). And God did not forget Jezebel for her part as well: "And of Jezebel also spake the Lord, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel" (I Kin. 21:23). Yes this is an escalated example of someone in a very high position, but the principles involved are unchangeable. God still abhors self pity, and he still abhors for someone to cater to someone else's self pity. And it is still true that nothing but evil can come from pouting or from someone catering to it. And God is still "the Judge of all the earth," and his judgments are invariable (Gen. 18:25; Mal. 3:6; Jas. 1:17). The "something else" that I spoke of getting to earlier is this: Self pity is strictly of the devil, for he is surely the king of pouting. He has been pouting hard and heavy ever since being cut off from God for his rebellion, and being cast out of heaven. The whole "that's not fair" thing comes from the devil, who has always felt that he wasn't treated "fairly" by God in these things. Anyone who pouts and anyone who caters to a pouter is motivated by demonic influence, straight up. That is why nothing but evil can come from it, as it was with Ahab and Jezebel. There is really no such thing as "fair" with God. There is only what is right in the sight of God, and THAT right is faith and trust in his power and love; that he truly IS working ALL things, both wanted and unwanted, for the GOOD of those who love him. The fact of the matter is that no pouter will go anywhere with God, and neither will any pouter get anything worthwhile done in this life carnally. Self pity is the sure pathway to becoming the proverbial "loser." God is looking for a few good 'Josephs,' and it's up to us if we want to be in that number. Amen.
