Psalms Chapter 91

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust : his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation” (Psm. 91). Here we have the 91st Psalm, and I must say that it is one of the most remarkable testimonies in the entire Bible. I also have to say that we are about to see this testimony fulfilled like at no other time in the history of the world.

As the apostle Peter soberly stated, “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer” (I Pet. 4:7). This saying is true, and it was written almost two thousand years ago. Where do you suppose that leaves us? I’ll tell you exactly where it leaves us - It leaves us at the VERY end of all things! We are about to witness the greatest move of God’s Spirit, power, and truth upon this world, the like of which has never been witnessed before; and it will literally be the last chance this world has before the end comes. This great end time revival will also bring the greatest persecution on God’s people that has ever been seen (Dan. 7:25; Rev. 6:9; Rev. 13:7; Rev. 14:9-12; Rev. 20:4). Before the second coming of Jesus to this world we will also see the greatest onslaught of plagues and natural disasters in the history of the world, brought about mainly by the word of the “two witnesses” that God will send to Jerusalem to turn Israel back to the Lord (Rev. 11:3-12). Contrary to what many of God’s people have been taught, there will be no ‘rapture’ to zap anyone out of this world during or before that time (Mat. 24:29-31; I Thess. 4:15-17; I Cor. 15:51-54). Rather God will have a people whose hearts are fixed and solidified in the faith of his mighty love and power, and they will graphically fulfill the words of the 91st Psalm which I’ve copied above. They will be perfected in the love of God and “made white” by faithfully enduring great tribulation, and will fear nothing (I Jn. 4:18; Dan. 11:32-35; Dan. 12:9,10; Rev. 7:13-15; Rev. 12:11). They will refuse to bow to the “abounding iniquity” of the time, and they will be free from the “strong delusion” that will be sent upon all “who believe not the truth, but have pleasure in unrighteousness” (Mat. 24:12; II Thess. 2:12).

They will be betrayed by many who are close to them, but they will not forsake their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, but rather they will “endure unto the end [and] be saved” (Mat. 10:21,22,36,37). Because they will be “faithful unto death,” they will fulfill the words of the 91st Psalm, and God will give them “a crown of life” (Rev. 2:10; II Tim. 4:7,8). Yes my friend, there is quite a time coming to this world, and God has prepared, and will prepare the hearts of those who are willing, to be ready to face it in absolute faith in him. The only way to escape enduring that greatest time of tribulation in the history of the world, will be to die before it comes (Job 14:13; Isa. 26:20,21; Rev. 14:13). But for those who do live through this time and remain faithful, they will know the preserving love, and grace, and power of God; perhaps better than anyone in history. And they will also see the words of Abraham fulfilled on the grandest of all scales, who said to the Lord; “That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” (Gen. 18:25). Yes father Abraham, indeed “the Judge of all the earth” SHALL do right, and he will NOT judge the righteous with the judgment of the wicked. Rather the righteous shall live out the words of the Psalmist: “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.” May God be merciful and grant us the grace and strength to be in that number. Amen and amen.
