If you have a cavity in a tooth, what do you do

If you have a cavity in a tooth, what do you do? You go to the dentist of course. And why do you go to the dentist? To get the cavity filled, right? But why do you get the cavity filled? Because if you don't, the cavity will get bigger and you will eventually lose the tooth. So if you feel emptiness in your soul, like boredom or the like, what do you do? Go to Jesus of course. And why do you do that? To get that cavity in your soul FILLED! Why is that a good idea? Because if you don't, the cavity will get bigger and you will eventually lose your soul. Strange how most people put a greater value on a tooth than on their own soul. Most folks, when they feel kind of empty will just find something fun to do. While that 'fun' may seem to hit the spot at the moment, it will only serve to make the cavity in the soul bigger, because it cannot fill it. Only Jesus can fill the soul and cure the cavity. In fact Jesus himself described this whole scenario perfectly: "Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water [this world] shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw" (Jn. 4:13-15). That sounded better to her than anything else she had tried, and so it did to me thirty three years ago this week. And after drinking this living water for thirty three years, it still sounds better to me than anything else I've ever tried. And well it should, considering the alternative: "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" (Mk. 8:36).

It doesn't matter how much 'fun' you manage to have, or how much you are able to 'achieve' in this life, it will never fill the cavity that is in every soul that is not drinking of this "living water" that Jesus described . I know what I'm talking about because I have truly 'been there and done that.' The living water that Jesus spoke of is the Spirit of God which is received by every soul that truly believes on him and pursues that faith actively: "In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)" [Jn. 7:37-39]. There simply is no substance in this world that can fill the void in the heart and soul of mankind, which void is in fact the disconnection between man and God. That disconnection my friend, is called sin, and it is that disconnection that Jesus came from heaven to reconnect. The holy Spirit of God IS that which alone can reconnect the hearts of God and men. The baptism of the holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with other tongues is what Jesus suffered, died, and rose again to provide us with. This experience is the only remission of sins that exists, and thereby is the only way for the hearts of men to be reconnected to God, which is to say reconciled (I Cor. 6:11,17; I Cor. 12:13; II Cor. 5:17-21; Gal. 3:27). I assure you with divine authority that NOTHING ELSE will get the job done, and that nothing apart from continuance in that experience will keep the job done. Amen.
