Only Holiness Allowed

Today I just want to highlight a few scriptures from the 101st Psalm and take a close look at what is plainly said therein: “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person. Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer… He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight. I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the Lord” (Psm. 101:3-5,7,8). Please read this again very slowly, and then tell me, Where does the modern Christian mindset of “eternal securtiy,” “sinners saved by grace,” and “salvation by confessing Jesus” come from? This squishy-sqaushy religious mentality certainly does NOT come from the Bible, and it does NOT come from the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God is what inspired the writings of the scriptures, and while it’s true that this is a small passage of scripture, it is ALSO true that the remainder of the Bible cannot contradict or set at naught this passage of truth. I just don’t know what a lot of folks are thinking, embracing the Christian traditions that really just make sin A-Okay. The excuse is that “we can’t get literally free from sin, and Jesus paid the price for our sins, so we aren’t accountable for sin if we believe on him.” Really?? Well then, that presents us with two really big problems. One being that the Bible is a lie, and the other being that Jesus suffered and died in vain, because he left us just like we were BEFORE he suffered, died, and rose again (Gal. 3:21; Heb. 10:4). The truth of the matter is, everyone who refuses to conform to the doctrine of TRUE holiness, and everyone who names the name of Christ and confesses to being a sinner at the same time, is calling God a liar. Because the holy Ghost-inspired scripture says, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall WE, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? … Knowing this, that our old man [sinful nature] is crucified with him, that the body [nature] of sin might be DESTROYED, that henceforth we should not serve sin…. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid… But God be thanked, that ye WERE the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made FREE from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness” (Rom. 6:1,2,6,15,17,18). THAT my friend, is what believing in Jesus produces; namely results, and results of holiness at that.

I think a lot of folks need to listen to the lyrics of the faithful old Gospel hymn, “Power in the Blood.” Go look up the lyrics, and I assure you that you will find that whoever wrote that song would agree with the scriptures quoted here, and tell you that we not only CAN be free from sin literally, but that we had BETTER be free from sin and stay that way till the end. And why is that? Because of this: “Follow peace with all men, and HOLINESS [sinless], without which NO MAN shall see the Lord” (Heb. 12:14). And because of this: “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall WE escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him” (Heb. 2:1-3). So again I say, I just don’t know what a lot of people are thinking, but I will straightly tell you that if a lot of people don’t CHANGE what they are thinking, a lot of people who think they are “going to heaven,” are going to instead be going to hell with a very rude awakening that will prove to be much too late. Think not? Then what about this? “Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous” (Psm. 1:5). To be certain, Jesus told us who “the ungodly” and who the “sinners” are: “Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin” (Jn. 8:34). To this the beloved apostle emphatically agreed: “Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might DESTROY the works of the devil” (I Jn. 3:6-8). Now we can wait to see if some “defender of sin” comes along with a frivolous comment and effort to throw smoke on this irrefutable statement of divine truth, by trying to make one scripture cunningly pulled out, appear as though it undoes a long flowing line of consistent scriptural evidence of the way of holiness that Jesus suffered, died, and rose again to provide. Stay with what the Bible REALLY says my friend, and fulfill it by the power of God’s holy Spirit of love and truth. That’s the GOOD news people! Amen.
