The God of Mass Sensuality

Want to block God right out of your consciousness? Well, just bombard the senses. Works every time. You cannot get in touch with God at the same time that any or all of your five senses are being massively indulged. Living in the society and age that we live in, we should diligently hearken to the admonition of the apostle Peter: “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;" (I Pet. 2:11). Never before has the world seen such an onslaught of sensuality, mainly because of the massive population, and the high-tech means of broadcasting everything that is on the minds of men. As it was in the days of Noah, so it is now, in regard to what IS on the minds of men: "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually" (Gen. 6:5). You don’t need me to tell you this. You’ve seen it. It’s all around us on every hand. You name it: sex, money, pride, admiration, beauty, intellect, talent, music, entertainment, and oh yes, technology. Technology? Yes, technology. And let’s not forget about food and drink either. So what is wrong with all of these things? Inherently nothing really, except maybe pride. Almost all of the items on the list can and have been used for good purposes, including for the Gospel. But all of these things have been exalted to places of absolute excess and worship, and have thereby crowded God’s holiness, love, and power, right out of the consciousness of mankind. Who do you suppose is behind that little [or big, rather] caper? That’s right, "the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them" (II Cor. 4:4). Yeah, "sex sells,” “time is money;” and beautiful girls are programmed from an early age to realize that they can “open doors with just a smile." Popularity is synonymous with success, talent will get you admiration, and everything in this society hinges on education. So how is education an indulgence of the senses? It isn’t unless it is false knowledge, which is rampant in schools today, on every level. The apostle Paul said that "knowledge puffeth up,” and he also referred to “the desires of the flesh and of the mind" (I Cor. 8:1; Eph. 2:3). Any knowledge apart from true humility only goes to the pride and destruction of man (Prov.16:18).

Many who stay free from some of the other excesses on the list give into the ‘harmless’ excess of food and drink. Jesus warned against this excess, saying it could give occasion to his people being deceived in the end time (Lk. 21:34). Now we have mass technology to transfer and entertain all that is in the hearts of men, and I mean pronto. The demand for greater visual and audio, and even touch quality of everything imaginable, just grows every day. Why? Because man is simply not satisfied or content in his heart … with anything! So he goes blindly on with more and more effort to satisfy his emptiness of heart with things that only gender to more emptiness. The result is a society and world that has been turned over by God to demon dominion and oppression on every hand. One can indulge themselves with all of the readily available fleshly attractions and pleasures for so long, until eventually the devil’s payday comes. And the devil’s payday is God’s judgment on following hard after things that are contrary to the real worship and service of God. Things like worshiping and serving the fleshly pursuits and endeavors of this present life. Lying deception is all that Satan has at his disposal, and if he can get you to follow his spirit and lies, he will see to it that you are right in the line of fire of God’s judgments against sin. That is his pay to you for serving him. Hear what the apostle Paul said: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting" (Gal. 6:7,8). That’s correct friend, getting carried away with the sensual aspect of this life will lead to destruction, both here and hereafter. Listen to the wisdom, sarcasm, and soberness of Solomon: "Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity [temporal]" (Eccl. 11:9,10). And finally, let’s hear the wisdom of the great apostle Paul once more: "Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart" (II Tim. 2:22). Friends, beware of anything and everything that dulls and blocks out the sense of faith in God. Amen.
