Pro-Israel or Pro-Jesus?

I would like to say just a few words here today about all of the “Pro-Israel” mentality and zeal that permeates all of Christianity, and the body of Christ in particular (I Cor. 12:13). First let me say very plainly that GOD IS NOT A RESPECTER OF PERSONS, OR OF NATIONALITIES, OR OF ETHNICITIES, AND THAT INCLUDES HIS OWN PEOPLE, WHICH ISRAEL IS NOT! “For he is NOT a Jew, which is one outwardly ; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly ; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God” (Rom. 2:28,29). And again: “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews OR Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit” (I Cor. 12:13). And just to be sure: “Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is NONE of his” (Rom. 8:9). So those who are God’s people, and are “Jews inwardly,” are those who have been baptized with the holy Ghost with the accompanying heavenly witness of speaking with other tongues, which experience is also the “circumcision of the heart” (Acts 2:4; I Cor. 14:21,22; Col. 2:11). But regardless of whether we are talking about old testament Israel, who WERE God’s people, or the body of Christ; God is only a respecter only of those who show respect to his Son and submit themselves to his will. That is why Peter wrote the following to born-again believers: “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. And if ye call on the Father, who WITHOUT RESPECT OF PERSONS judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear” (I Pet. 1:15-17). In fact new testament believers who do NOT continue in obedience of holiness, are promised a more certain destruction than old testament Israel for their disobedience: “He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?” (Heb. 10:28,29)

It should be evident that God is not a respecter of Israel, in that he cut them off from his covenant after they rejected his Son Jesus (Rom. 11:9,10,20,25). In fact, the spirit of religious pride among God’s people that exalts Israel so highly, is the exact same thing that caused Israel to be cast out of their inheritance in old time: “Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place… Behold, YE TRUST IN LYING WORDS, that cannot profit. Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not; And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? … Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh. And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim” (Jer. 7:3,8-10,14,15). And those lying words were the erring prophets telling them that God would never do to HIS PEOPLE what Jeremiah was claiming (Jer. 14:13). This same spirit of ‘Jewish elitism’ is what opposed the apostle Paul for the duration of his ministry, and eventually won out over the minds and spirits of the Gentile believers that Paul established in Christ (Acts 15:1,2; II Cor. 11:13,22; II Tim. 1:15). And it has never gone away my friend. That spirit has ruled over much of Christianity since the days of Paul until this day. And with God’s Spirit-baptized people being in captivity to the traditions and doctrines of Christianity, it has fooled them as well. I think more folks should be looking at the parable of the good Samaritan, and Elijah being sent to a Gentile woman to abide with her and her son, and to the first sermon that Jesus preached; where he used such examples to rebuke that very spirit of Jewish religious pride (Lk. 4:24-29). And the reaction to that sermon? They wanted to kill him, as it says. The Lord will turn back to Israel in the end, but even then only a small remnant will believe and be saved (Rev. 11:1-3, Zech. 13:8,9; Zech. 14:1-3). In fact, that is all that has ever believed the truth, old testament or new (Jer. 5:1; Mat. 7:13,14). Amen.
