"Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed" (Isa. 6:8-10). "And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them. For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel; Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee. But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted" (Ezek. 3:4-7). "And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given... Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them" (Mat. 13:10,11,13-15). I have used the examples of Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Jesus to illustrate a constant reality regarding the history of God's dealings with his people, but the same malady has proven true for ALL who have ever received God's word for his people, to this very day. Again Isaiah stated it perfectly: "Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?" (Isa. 53:1). As did Hosea: "I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing" (Hos. 8:12). Hosea added a grim forecast caused by this religious pride and rejection of God's truth through his messengers: "And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels" (Hos. 11:6).

The simple truth of the matter is, as God explicitly stated above to Ezekiel, there is none so dense to hearing God's truth as those who know that they are God's people, and BELIEVE that they ALREADY HAVE the truth. But the fact of the matter is that God's people have NEVER kept God's word and truth, and have ALWAYS turned it into something more to their own suiting. Jesus said the same thing like this: " [You are] Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye" (Mk. 7:13). The apostle Paul spoke of the same tragic reality in this vein: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables" (II Tim. 4:3,4). Friend, when the great apostle said that God's people would be "turned unto fables," he wasn't talking about Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He was talking about doctrinal "fables" that are upheld by God's people as being the word of God, when in fact they are nothing but the vain traditions of men like Jesus said. I don't have time or space to list all of the man-concocted fables of doctrine that God's people are in bondage to today, but to cut to the chase, I'll just say that ALL of the Christian religion is made up of erroneous doctrine that does nothing but quench the Spirit of God in his people, and turn them onto a wrong path. But the worst part of this destructive predicament is that once again God's people have been conditioned to believe that the religious traditions and doctrines of men are actually the word of God, and that presents the same seemingly impossible task for someone who has actually received God's word at his mouth, to get those words into the hearts of God's people. If you don't believe me, just ask Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Jesus. Or better yet, just watch the comment section below these articles, and you will often find someone proving and fulfilling the very misguided thing that was reproved in the article, through some unfounded comment in support of some unfounded tradition of men.
