Listen folks, I know that a lot of things are really tough on a lot of people at this time in the body of Christ. I'm in some straits myself, and I know plenty of other people who are as well. In many cases many of us have been stretched out far beyond the end of our rope, and it seems as though there are no solutions in sight. In fact some things require a biblical scale answer and solution to what many of us are facing. I just want to remind everyone of one thing, and that is that one word from God can change everything! And it will! We are neither forgotten nor forsaken of the one who purchased us with his very life. We aren't the first people of God who have been stretched to the point of feeling like there are no answers to come: “But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls a are continually before me” (Isa. 49:14-16).

That passage was written about old testament Israel, who was in a covenant with God that was established upon the blood of bulls and of goats. Our covenant with God is founded in the very blood of his only begotten Son who died a terrible death for us all, to demonstrate his total and forever commitment to our good. Jesus is known as the 'Word of God' because that's who he is. He was and is in fact the first word that God ever spoke, and when God spoke his first word it could be nothing but an expression of himself. There was no one to speak to and there was nothing to speak about, because God was alone in existence, and there simply was nothing else he could say but an expression of himself. He begot his Son by his word, and his Son became the personification of his word because he is as the scripture says, "the express image of [the Father's] person" (Heb. 1:3).

Jesus is called "the beginning" by the apostle Paul because he in fact is the beginning of all things that exist (Col. 1:18). God never had a beginning, but when he spoke that first 'Word' it changed everything forever, and in a really big way. Since then he has never changed that pattern and that mode of the way he does things. Throughout history one word from God in a given circumstance changed everything. When God spoke to Abraham and told him to leave his father's house and to follow him to a place that he would give him, that changed everything forever (Gen. 12:1-3). When God spoke to Pharaoh in a dream, and Joseph was brought before him to interpret the dream, it saved the majority of the world from famine and thereby that word changed everything for most of the known world at that time (Gen. 41:1-7). When God spoke to Moses at the burning bush, and commissioned him to deliver his people from Egypt, that word changed everything for an entire nation of people, just like that (Exd. 3:1-10).

When the angel Gabriel came to Mary and informed her that she would bring to birth the Son of God without any human instrumentality, that word changed everything for everyone forever (Lk. 1:26-38). When the Lord spoke to Saul of Tarsus who was on his way to Damascus to persecute the followers of Jesus, that word changed the world forever (Acts 9:1-6). In all of these examples God's world-changing word came to these people on a day like any other day, when they were doing the things that they did every day. Not only so, but since the time that God begot his Son in heaven by his own word, he has never ceased from speaking. We are living in probably the most pivotal time in the history of the world, and God is preparing the way for his final and greatest move on behalf of mankind, and on behalf of his name, in the history of the world. I'm certain that is the reason why so many of God's dear children have been stretched beyond what they deem the end of their rope in circumstances in their lives, as well as in the ministry of God's gospel.

Have no fear my friends, God's word is going to come on a day like any other day, to people who are seemingly insignificant and are in dire straits; and that word will change the entire world. Not only so, but God's word for our pressing situations in our lives is going to come to us, and that word will change everything in our lives. Even as it was written about Joseph: “He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant: Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron: Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him” (Psm. 105:17-19). We are being tried, but our word from God is on the way; and as long as we remain faithful that word will most assuredly arrive, and it will change everything in our lives, though some things may appear unchangeable.

God is a miracle God and God is a speaking God, so we need only to be ready and available to receive his word when he sends it to us. And be ever mindful of what I consider to be God's greatest promise to his people who trust him: "For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Heb. 13:5). When God speaks, his word will stand without fail. It always has and it always will. I know personally by long experience that God's word can and will change everything that we are dealing with, especially those things that are far too great for us to handle. David certainly knew this reality, and he expressed it repeatedly: "My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word... I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word... Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according to thy word" (Psm. 119:25,107,154). Amen and God bless!
