The Mask of Christianity

What we’re talking about today is religious sin, otherwise known as “a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof” (II Tim. 3:5). That means doctrines contrived from twisting the scriptures into a religious format that justifies sin. Peter plainly stated that there were people doing that to Paul’s epistles as well as to all the scriptures at the time of his writing of his own second epistle (II Pet. 3:16). Jude called it “turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness” (Jd. 1:4). It’s a matter of teaching the scriptures in a twisted, erroneous misunderstanding; rather than with true understanding imparted by the holy Ghost (Jn. 14:26; I Jn. 2:27). Let’s go back to Jude’s statement now. “Turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness” just means that the grace of God is used as an EXCUSE for sin rather than a literal and true deliverance FROM sin, which is what the true Gospel is all about (Rom. 6:1,2). And that is exactly what we see with Christianity today. The whole “sinners saved by grace” mindset rules in just about every nook and cranny of the Christian world today. In fact that school of thought sums up what the modern defining of what the religion is all about, and it is all about putting a religious mask on sin and calling it righteousness. I’ve heard it all: “We’re all sinners.” “Nobody can really live without sinning.” And the remedy? “Just believe in what Jesus did, and we’re no longer accountable for our sins.” “It’s HIS righteousness brother, not ours.” But the truth of the matter is, that is exactly the opposite of what Christianity imposes on those who embrace it. HIS righteousness is BLOCKED OUT of the lives of those who adhere to modern Christianity, and SELF righteousness is all that is left. If we acknowledge ourselves to be sinners, and say that we are partakers of his righteousness at the same time; then we have confused what the grace of God is all about, and at the same time say that having Christ in our lives has only imparted more sin unto us (Gal. 2:17). So the result is just putting a religious, Christian mask on sin and calling it righteousness, which is obviously confusion and a lie. John said it very clearly: “Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he [Christ] is righteous” (I Jn. 3:7). Oh yeah, he also said this just four verses earlier: “And every man that hath this hope [salvation] in him purifieth himself, even as he[Christ] is pure” (I Jn. 3:3). Hmmmm. Now that doesn’t sound like “sinners saved by grace.”

And that sounds like if we really have his righteousness it makes us righteous like him. Why wouldn’t it? Is the holy Spirit without power to do that? Not according to Jesus (Acts 1:8). So maybe the HOLY Spirit is without enough holiness to accomplish that task? Well, if being in sin is as pure as we can get, then that has to mean that Jesus is a sinner too, or maybe John didn’t really mean what he said. Man, this is really sounding crazier all the time isn’t it? And let’s see if the apostle Paul can give us a little true light on the meaning of grace, and see if he agrees with John: “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world” (Tit. 2:11,12). Sounds to me like Christianity’s frivolous, weak mask just got ripped off, and that by just a few passages of scripture that simply cannot be painted any other way than what they are. My friend, when someone REALLY repents from sin and believes on Jesus according to HIS terms of faith and repentance, Jesus baptizes them personally with the HOLY power that is indeed the holiness and life of both himself and his Father (Mk. 1:7,8; Acts 5:32; Jn. 7:38,39; Jn. 5:26; Jn. 10:10; Rom. 8:2). And as the above referenced Romans 8:2 says, THAT holy Spirit “makes [us] FREE from the law [nature] of sin and death.” And free from sin means free from sin, not a pretentious, figurative freedom from sin: “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is LIBERTY [from sin]” (II Cor. 3:17). After receiving this experience of the Spirit baptism, one need only learn how to stay fully baptized with that holy power in order to stay free from sin (Col. 2:6; Rom. 8:14; Gal. 5:16). If a child is told from birth that it cannot learn to talk, it will NOT learn to talk. Today’s Christianity has taught God’s people that they cannot truly be free from sin, so guess what the result of that is. But that is a lie, and it is a very, very deadly lie. Friend, don’t be confused and hypnotized by Christianity’s false claims, for there is no salvation therein. Salvation is in Christ himself alone, and “if any man be in Christ, he is a NEW creature: OLD THINGS [sinful nature] are passed away; behold, all things are become NEW” (II Cor. 5:17). Don’t fall for sin disguised by a religious mask of erroneous teachings of the Bible that are set forth as the Gospel of Christ, when in fact it is by and large a perversion of it instead . Amen.
