Scripture and Righteousness

"When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said" (Jn. 2:22). "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water [(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive : for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified .] (Jn. 7:38,39). "Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?" (Jn. 7:42). "If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified , and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?" (Jn. 10:35,36). "For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead" (Jn. 20:9). "But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe" (Gal. 3:22). "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (II Tim. 3:16). "If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well" (Jas. 2:8). "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" (II Pet. 1:20,21). "Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God" (Mat. 22:29). "Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?" (Mat. 26:53,54). "I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled" (Mk. 14:49). "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself... And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?... And [Jesus] said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day" (Lk. 24:27,32,46). "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life" (Jn. 5:39,40). "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so" (Acts 17:11). "For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ" (Acts 18:28). "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, [Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures]" (Rom. 1:1,2). "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope" (Rom. 15:4).

"Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith" (Rom. 16:25,26). "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (I Cor. 15:3,4). "And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus" (II Tim. 3:15). "As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction" (II Pet. 3:16). "Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve" (Mat. 4:10). "As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee" (Mk. 1:2). "As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight" (Lk. 3:4). "Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus... For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take" (Acts 1:16,20). "Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written..." (Acts 15:14,15). "As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter" (Rom. 8:36). "As it is written , Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed" (Rom. 9:33). "(According as it is written, God hath given them [Jews] the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day" (Rom. 11:8). "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay , saith the Lord" (Rom. 12:19). "For it is written, As I live , saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God" (Rom. 14:11). "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written , He taketh the wise in their own craftiness" (I Cor. 3:19).

"For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written" (I Cor. 9:9,10). "Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play" (I Cor. 10:7). "In the law it is written , With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not" (I Cor. 14:21,22). "And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit" I Cor. 15:45). "Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God" (Heb. 10:7). "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy" (I Pet. 1:15,16). I would like for you to take note of two elements about all of these scripture quotations that I've listed here. One is that every single verse has to do with establishing a new testament truth, and the other thing is that every single verse is a citation of an old testament scripture. This is exactly how the new testament writings were written. The apostles were moved by the holy Ghost to write down truth that had been revealed to them BY the Spirit, THROUGH the old testament scriptures. Anytime that a truth is revealed to ANYBODY by the holy Ghost it will ALWAYS include a consistent line of scripture that is in perfect agreement with that truth. There simply is no such thing as a revelation of truth that cannot be supported with absoluteness by a consistent line of scripture. The scriptural problem with the modern Christian doctrines and traditions that are universally upheld as truth, is that they are all contrived by using a scripture here, and a scripture there, taken out of context; to APPEAR as truth; when in fact they can all be irrefutably refuted BY the scriptures if someone understands the truth well enough to do so. Everything that anyone claims to be truth must be measured against the scriptures, and not just one or two of them either either. What you believe about the Gospel of Christ will by and large determine what kind of fruit you bear, so my sound advice is to be like the Bereans, of whom the SCRIPTURE says; "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so" (Acts 17:11). And why is this so necessary? "I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit... If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned" (Jn. 15:1,2,6). Amen.
