Take Up the Sword

God hates the works of the devil. Period. The scripture plainly tells us, “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil” (I Jn. 3:8). God abhors everything that is done for wicked purposes, and so do all of those who love God and his righteousness: “Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good” (Rom. 12:9). One night a few months ago my sons and I were eating at a certain place in our neighborhood, and we noticed something that we hadn’t seen before. There was a business in our neighborhood, a well known chain, that was sponsoring psychic readings in their building on a regular basis. Psychic readings are of the devil, and God hates it. This business had been there for several years but we had never realized that this occult practice was being practiced there. Nevertheless there were signs blatantly on the windows that were advertising for these things. The business itself has nothing to do with being about occult practices, but yet it allowed these psychic readings to be held there. So I decided that we needed to curse that business in the name of the Lord, and get God to remove it from the neighborhood. It was after hours and no one else was around, so we just laid hands on the building and cursed the business for upholding these wicked works of the devil, and commanded it in Jesus’ name to leave the neighborhood. I didn’t think any more about it after that night, and the subject never came up between us again. Last night however we were in that area and we saw that the business had shut down and moved out. PRAISE GOD!! It was God’s will for us as his children and servants to execute his will and judgment to curse that wickedness, and to get that curse off of the neighborhood. This business closing down is no coincidence my friend. Occult practices invite demonic oppression into a person’s life, and even into an area like a community where they are being practiced, more than just about anything I can think of. I’ve seen it time and again, occult practices destroying someone’s life and family like a plague.

If you have ever been involved with any form of occult practice, you need to repent before God and ask him to redeem you from the curse that you have procured to yourself. That would include mediums, ouija boards, horoscopes, ghost activities, or any other ‘paranormal’ practice. Listen to what God had to say to those who were observing these kinds of things in the days of Isaiah: “Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame” (Isa. 47:13,14). I assure you that God has not changed, and neither have the works of the devil that he hates. There are also plenty of other kinds of works of the devil that are being upheld in all kinds of places, and God hates it all. If you are a child of God, and you are keeping your heart pure by the power of his Spirit, then you have authority to do the same thing that we did with that situation. It is the will of God for us to do so, and we have his backing to do these things. God expects us to execute his will in the earth, and he will be with us to bring down the strong holds of the enemy that are bringing oppression upon many. Be encouraged to invade the turf of the devil and to take that turf away from him. “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein” (Psm. 24:1). Too long has the devil and his horde camped on God’s ground illegally. He’s not paying any rent and he needs to be evicted from his camping grounds. As the children and servants of Jesus Christ it is my job and yours to evict him. “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Rom. 8:31) God IS for us and with us to assault the devil and his works in the earth, and ALL power is on his side (Psm. 62:11; Rom. 13:1). That means that all power is on OUR side to carry out God’s will in the earth, and it is certain that it is God’s will that the works of the devil be destroyed. Amen, for now.
