What About the Bereans?

Whatever happened to the spirit of the Bereans, whom the scripture says “were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things [that Paul preached] were so?” (Acts 17:11) Who is doing that today? The answer is few to none. If the body of Christ were to do this on a universal basis, regarding what God’s people have been universally taught, we would see a revival such as the world has never beheld. How’s that, you may ask? Because the entire modern Christian Gospel has been taught to God’s people according to the intellect of man, and not according to the revelation of Jesus Christ by the power of God (Gal. 1:11,12; I Jn. 2:27; Isa. 54:13; Jn. 16:13). If God ‘s people were to diligently search out God with all of their hearts and souls, they would find his truth and cast off the lifeless Christian Gospel. In so doing they would be renewed by the power of the holy Ghost, and united in one, as Jesus prayed for us to be (Jer. 29:13; Jn. 17:22; I Cor. 1:10). Anyone remember how it all started, when “the faith that was once delivered to the saints” came from heaven? (Jude 1:3) “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with ONE ACCORD in one place… And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts 2:1,4). Anybody remember what happened next? “And the multitude of them that believed were of ONE HEART and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all” (Acts 4:32,33). If this is what you want to see my friend, then be as the Bereans. Don’t accept today’s Christian ‘Gospel’ that has been universally embraced as being the faith of Christ. IT IS NOT! It is a Gospel of confusion that has divided and weakened the body of Christ to a point of being severely crippled and incapable of bringing forth the deliverance that a dying world so desperately needs. Christianity is something that has evolved into “another gospel” and “another Jesus” (Gal. 1:6,7; II Cor. 11:4). God is not confused, and his Spirit is one mind; and the only way we can “with one mind and one mouth glorify God,” is if we give space to God’s Spirit to teach us what it is trying to teach us, meaning the truth, holiness, and power of this mighty Gospel (Jn. 14:26).
