Scripture and the Holy Spirit

"As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ" (Gal. 1:9,10). There are two things here in this passage that I would like to focus on for just a bit. First of all, the great apostle Paul clearly stated that there is no other Gospel other than the one he preached, and we have his Gospel recorded in the Bible for record. Secondly, he clearly said that he [or we] could not be a servant of Christ if we are trying to do whatever it takes to just get along with everyone else. All I can say is, Where the heck does that leave this society and this world today?? Two things are certain, and one of them is that the spiritual climate of today's world is one of ongoing, ever increasing 'political correctness.' That is to say that to the mind of today's world, the absoluteness and holiness of the Gospel of Christ is utter insanity. That is because utter insanity reigns supreme among men today. The other certainty in today's world is that if you DON"T do everything possible, and then some, TO 'please men,' you are seen as nothing but a real jackass. Reason being that jackasses set the tone for what everybody else is supposed to think like today. Isaiah [God actually] said the same thing in these words: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!" (Isa. 5:20,21). If today's world were a movie, and you were going to write a script for it; that would be the perfect one. You would need to add the following to complete that script however: "And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment" (Isa. 59:14,15). There is simply no such thing as judgment against evil remaining in this world, unless it is the wicked judging the righteous as being evil, which is the pinnacle of perversity. In fact if you are righteous, or even just fairly decent, you may as well plan on being mocked, scorned, and persecuted, at the very least.

The perverseness going on in this society and this world that I see and hear now on a daily basis, go so far beyond comprehension or description, that well... there's just no way to describe it. Maybe the strangest thing about it all is that it's really a small number of people in comparison, who hold to the utterly perverse ideas and practices that are being set forth today as being the norm. A whole lot of folks who are still sane had better shake themselves and remember the words of the living God on these matters, like this: "The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion" (Prov. 28:1). It's not supposed to be the righteous who flee, but rather the wicked. I'm telling you, between people who are truly righteous in God, or those who still have some degree of decency and sanity about them; the utterly godless are well outnumbered. That probably sounds off to many of you because things appear to be just the opposite. But that is because the absolute insanity of the modern absurd ideologies that are perpetrated by the minority of people, are being allowed to look like the majority because there aren't enough voices being heard to the contrary. That is how atrocities like Nazism and Hitler got to such a powerful place. The overwhelming majority of people in Germany were not Nazis, but they allowed the minority to control the tempo as if THEY were the majority, and so the wicked were able to rise to great power by means of the passive nature of the majority. God help us to somehow turn the tide on this overwhelming, overbearing flood of wickedness that is perpetrating the world we live in to unprecedented levels. There's only one way that can happen, and we can go back to Isaiah for that answer as well: "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him" (Isa. 59:19). That will not happen if we compromise the Gospel of God's holy love and righteous judgment, and "seek to please men" by not "reproving the world of sin" like Jesus commanded us to do (Gal. 1:9,10; Jn. 16:8). Jesus Christ did not come from heaven to suffer, die, and rise from the dead; to give us a squeamish nature and an unstable mind: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (II Tim. 1:7). We're either all the way in or we're all the way out my friend. There is no wiggle space left now. May God strengthen us one and all by his grace and his mighty power and love. Amen.
